Inspired By The Monterey Bay
Inspired by the rich tapestry of life in the Monterey Bay Area, Barbara paints both on location and in her studio. Her work is characterized by recognized subject matter with an interpretation that synthesizes the subject's essence with some of the qualities of abstraction.
Her favorite landscapes to feature are Monterey Bay and the Sierra Mountains. Her work includes landscape and figurative paintings.
Barbara is currently spending her days painting full-time in her studio in Santa Cruz.
Bay Area Native
Barbara Lawrence was born in San Francisco and has spent most of her life in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her B.A. degree from San Francisco State University and an M.A. degree from San Jose State University.
She taught Life drawing and Advanced Painting at the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto.
